About Rémi
I started taking music lessons at 7. At age 15 I was taking guitar lessons in Thonon-les-Bains, my hometown, but also in Annecy with Dominique Leurquin (Guitarist for Luca Turilli’s Rhapsody), and in Geneva with Christophe Godin (Mörglbl, The Prize, Guitar Part Magazine).
When I moved to England at 18, I had the privilege to study with more incredible musicians such as guitarist Pete Roth (London Gala Orchestra) , drummer Frank Tontoh (George Michael, Amy Winehouse), singer Jono McNeil (Michael Buble, Coach at The Voice UK). For 2 years, I played in many different projects, recorded and performed in some of the best studios in England such as Metropolis in London (Adele, Queen, Ed Sheeran).
Now I’m diving into the Metal and Progressive scene a lot (Haken, Leprous, Arcane Roots) and spending a great deal of time working on my own compositions and live shows with my band.

My approach to teaching electric guitar consists of giving the students the tools to feel like they are in control of their instrument. That means giving them the skills required to be able to play the guitar by not just playing a song or following a score.
Learning songs remains very important but it has to be in an intelligent way. The things that we learn in a song need to be learnt well enough so they can be reused in a different context, transposed, sped up or slowed down if necessary.
I, therefore, always lean towards giving, at very least, a little bit of music theory knowledge. I am not talking about note reading and all that, I’m talking about some basic knowledge of chord progressions and scales.
