About Kim
I am a recent graduate from the University of Bristol, where I obtained a masters in Aerospace Engineering (MEng) with a First Class Honours. Much of the degree was spent refining my problem solving technique, and then applying it to more physical subjects like thermodynamics, fluid mechanics and programming. This was often done in an interpersonal setting, as engineers always have to work in teams.
Before this, I studied A-level Maths, Physics and History (A*AA) with AS-level Further Maths and Geology (AA). I did two GCSEs in Maths (A*A*) at school while also getting a Merit in Additonal Maths. I am new to tutoring although I have taught young people English in informal settings on several occasions. I also did an Erasmus+ year abroad in Madrid so I could learn Spanish, which I believe really helped to build my communication skills.
I would like my lessons to be engaging, memorable and fulfilling for the both of us, so that any student can enjoy this subject! At the moment I only teach online but I can also arrange to travel within the local Abergavenny/Llanfoist area.

I am currently offering maths tution up to and including GCSE level, covering all aspects of the subject.
I believe that every mind works most effectively in its own way. As such, the style of the lesson will be shaped by what the student feels is most effective for them. This often isn't always clear for many people, so I'm also happy to take the reins and ascertain the student's specific learning needs.
Content wise, I can teach fundemental concepts and worked examples, or instead go through problems/past papers. I think its also often useful to advise on general problem solving strategies as this is ultimately what will make you the best mathematician you can be!
I look forward to our first lesson!

Kim is a very enthusiastic, patienet and trustworthy person. I can imagine he will be keen to share his knowledge and understanding of science subjects generally. We have had many conversations over the years about the important influence good teaching/explanation/support has on students interested in science subjects. I think he has always felt that understanding maths in particular is key to so many subject areas and this I can imagine will help him connect and help others on their own journey studying this subject.
I can't recommend Kim enough! Kim tutored my daughter through her year 6 exams. I would describe Kim's teaching style as patient and encouraging, Kim really ensured my daughter understood some topics she had found previously difficult. I will be in contact with Kim again when my younger son takes his exams!
