About Hugues

I'm 38 and an aerospace engineer, graduated from the University of Liège (Belgium). I've spent 15 years working in technical fields: finite element simulation, structural, mechanical and electrical engineering, technical management as CTO, infrastructure projects. I'm also trilingual: French (native), English (C2), and Spanish (C1).

After years of working in engineering, I started teaching technical French because I noticed something: many smart professionals struggle not with French grammar, but with knowing how French is actually used in professional contexts. The formality level in emails. The way technical reports are structured. The specific vocabulary that's common in French engineering but rarely taught in textbooks.

This is where my engineering background helps. I know the terminology because I've used it. I know how French engineers communicate because I've worked with them. I can explain the practical side of technical French, not just grammar rules, but how things are actually said in real professional situations.

My teaching is practical and straightforward. We work with real technical materials: articles, documentation, examples from your field. I help you understand not just what words mean, but how they're used professionally. I can explain in English or Spanish when needed, which helps clarify tricky points quickly.

I'm patient and flexible. Some students need help reading technical documents. Others need to prepare presentations or write professional emails. We focus on what you actually need for your work or studies. No judgment, no pressure, just practical help to make your professional French more confident and natural.

My goal is simple: help you feel comfortable using French in professional situations. You don't need to sound like a native speaker, you just need to communicate clearly and professionally in your field.

I teach technical and scientific French to professionals who already have a solid foundation (B2+) but need to level up their professional communication.

**Para estudiantes hispanohablantes:** Hablo español con fluidez (C1) y entiendo perfectamente las interferencias y dificultades específicas que enfrentan los hispanohablantes al aprender francés técnico. Puedo explicar en español cuando sea necesario y ayudarte a evitar los errores típicos de transferencia entre español y francés en contextos profesionales.

My students are typically engineers reading French technical documentation, researchers preparing conference presentations, or technical professionals working with French-speaking teams. The challenge isn't grammar, it's navigating the specific vocabulary, formal register, and communication style of technical French.

What makes technical French tricky? It's not just translating words. It's understanding how French engineers structure a report differently than English ones. How formal emails follow unwritten rules. How a presentation to French colleagues needs a different approach than in English.

My approach: we work with real-world materials, authentic technical articles, industry documentation, sample reports from public sources, or anonymized/generic versions of professional documents you need help with. You're always in control of what you share. I can also help you develop templates and frameworks you can apply to your confidential work independently.

Sessions are practical and collaborative. We analyze documents together, practice presentation structures, refine technical writing patterns. I explain the "why" behind formal structures so you can use them confidently on your own.

Aerospace engineer with 15 years experience across multiple technical fields. I understand both the engineering side and the language side, which means I can help you sound professional and precise in French.

This works best if you're motivated, have clear professional goals, and are willing to practice between sessions.
