About Elliott
I am a patient, adaptable tutor who works especially well with students who may struggle with confidence, focus, or understanding new concepts. Having faced similar challenges myself, I prioritize building trust, self-awareness, and effective learning strategies so students can better understand their own needs and feel comfortable advocating for them. I am equally comfortable using a more traditional tutoring approach focused on strengthening understanding of the material and improving grades. Every session is oriented around the goals of the student and their family, and I communicate with parents in advance to ensure lessons are targeted, supportive, and effective.

Middle school science introduces a lot of new vocabulary, dense textbooks, and abstract concepts that can easily overwhelm a student. My lessons focus on making science approachable, clear, and engaging by connecting the material to real-world examples.
What a typical science session looks like:
Targeted Concept Review: We tackle the current unit—whether it’s biology, earth science, or physics basics—and break down complex terms into plain English.
Active Recall & Study Strategies: I teach students how to read science textbooks effectively, create helpful diagrams, and use active recall strategies so they actually retain the information.
Lab & Project Prep: We look ahead at upcoming lab reports or science projects, breaking them down into manageable steps so nothing is left until the last minute.
