About Emily
I enjoy helping students prepare for the ACT, improve in academic courses, and build better study habits. I graduated summa cum laude from high school, completed the IB Diploma Program, and am an incoming student at the University of Florida. Through IB, I took seven rigorous courses across different subject areas, which taught me how important organization, time management, and strong study habits are. I was also involved in Math Honor Society, Science Honor Society, where I served as historian, and National Honor Society. Through these honor societies, I volunteered as a tutor for other high school students, which helped me realize how much I enjoy explaining complex concepts in a clear and approachable way.
One of my strongest areas is ACT tutoring. I scored a 35 composite on the ACT, including a 36 in Math, 35 in English, 34 in Reading, and 35 in Science. My own experience with the ACT taught me that improvement is not just about studying more. It is about studying the right way. I help students recognize common question types, improve timing, use elimination, review missed questions, and learn the patterns that appear again and again on the test. I can also help students with Chinese, which I speak through my family background.

My tutoring style is patient and organized. For academic courses, I break difficult material into smaller steps and help students build confidence with the subject. I believe tutoring should help students become stronger, more independent learners, not just get through one assignment or one test. I am happy to discuss a student’s goals before lessons begin so we can create a plan that fits their needs.
