About Thomas
My name is Thomas Turner, I come from a very underprivileged background with little access to quality education, with my high school receiving OFSTED reports of unsatisfactory for multiple running years. As a result, I had to learn effective methods for self-study, and have a unique perspective on both logical and visual based subjects, which is not taught in the "linear thinking" paradigm provided by most schools. By doing this, I am now studying my favourite subject at one of the top universities in the country. My goal alongside pursuing a career in Tech, is to give back to other students who may struggle with lack of access or ineffective teaching strategies for them, so that they can receive great results and strive for academic excellence.

My Approach: I want to replace the traditional approach to teaching many academic subjects with a visual and concept-based method. Instead of rote memorising formulae and ideas, students will be taught how to understand and solve problems intuitively. This will allow them to perform well in STEM-based subjects both at their current level and with future pursuits. Available to teach: GCSE & A-level Mathematics GCSE & A-level Computer Science. A-level Psychology GCSE Sciences Programming (Python, JavaScript, Rust, C++) French (B2 & GCSE) Teaching Methodology: Remote over Zoom call making use of digital whiteboards and pre-prepared materials, such as practice questions. I also direct students to extended reading, practice, research and materials. Attempt to bring a passion for every subject I teach. For academic subjects, support with homework is provided without extra cost.

Thomas is a lovely, conscientious and organised tutor. He thinks creatively about how to present maths concepts to my Year 11 son, who doesn’t like maths very much. And it’s paid off, as in a short time I have seen a significantly different attitude towards his GCSE studies under Thomas’ tutelage. He is really starting to “get” concepts that had before baffled him, and is beginning to take ownership of his studies. I highly recommend Thomas.
Thomas is an extremely hard-working and reliable tutor that has the ability to explain complex topics really well. He has taught me some Maths and Computer Science topics that were obscure to me prior to his teaching. After he taught me, everything clicked and made sense. I would highly recommend him to anyone wanting to learn Maths or Computer Science, as he is very apt at teaching them.
