I use the Gradual Release of Responsibility (GRR) model:
1. I Do – Demonstrating concepts and techniques.
2. We Do – Collaborating with students on exercises.
3. You Do – Allowing students to practice independently with constructive feedback.
A Typical Lesson Plan
English Creative Writing
1. Warm-Up (5 min): Creative prompts or a short reading exercise.
2. Core Lesson (20 min):
• Focus on a specific writing technique (e.g., dialogue, character development, or descriptive imagery).
• Discuss examples from literature or student work.
3. Practice (20 min): Guided writing activity based on the technique taught.
4. Feedback & Discussion (10 min): Constructive critique and Q&A.
5. Homework: Assign a short creative piece or reflective journal entry.
Spanish Lessons
1. Introduction (5 min): Review of previous lessons and objectives for the day.
2. Core Lesson (20 min):
• Vocabulary or grammar focus (e.g., verb conjugations or sentence structure).
• Cultural insights (idioms, traditions, or music).
3. Practice (20 min): Role-playing conversations or translation exercises.
4. Wrap-Up (10 min): Recap key points and set goals for independent practice.
