About Tanya
I’m a PhD-trained chemist and university professor who loves helping students feel confident and successful in chemistry. I know chemistry can feel overwhelming, so my goal is to make difficult topics clear, manageable, and even enjoyable. I help students build confidence and mastery in chemistry by breaking complex topics into clear, manageable steps. My tutoring sessions focus on active problem-solving, visual explanations, and proven study strategies tailored specifically to General and Organic Chemistry, with an emphasis on understanding patterns, mechanisms, and concepts—not just memorization. Each lesson is personalized and typically includes reviewing challenging concepts or assignments, guided practice with similar problems, step-by-step explanations of structures and reactions, and practical exam tips. I’m a PhD chemist and university professor with extensive experience teaching General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry, and I bring a patient, supportive approach that helps students learn how to think through problems independently. I work with K–12 students (including AP Chemistry), college students in General Chemistry and Organic Chemistry I & II, as well as non-STEM majors and pre-health students, tailoring every session to each learner’s course, level, and goals.
