About Ashlee
I am an accounting student who has worked with young students for several years. I have experience as a nanny, classroom aide, camp counselor, and club lead and the part I love most about those jobs is helping young students feel confident and empowered. I enjoy combining my love for math and my passion for helping students excel to create a teaching environment that is constructive and informative. My goal is always to encourage and motivate students to learn and think outside the box.

I give lessons to elementary and middle school students who may be struggling with math, or moving at a faster pace than their class and want to learn new concepts. My lessons are based on what the individual student is struggling with or what the student wants to explore outside of their class curriculum in a case where they may be bored with what they are learning in school. I like to encourage students to first try to solve problems on their own even if they don't feel like they can. I believe that in a lot of cases you learn more when you fail than when you get it right on the first attempt. I typically lead from behind and redirect the student if they are going in the wrong direction. My main goal with this method is to teach students that they are capable of figuring out problems on their own, but also making sure they are getting the concepts down by being there to answer questions or redirect.

Ashlee is pursuing a degree in accounting and is the only person I know who gets giddy when she has tons of math homework to do in an evening. She's patient, kind, smart and approachable. She also has lots of experience working with students and will make a wonderful tutor.
