About Xin Yi
I am a 5th year medical student (University of Edinburgh) with several years' experience in tutoring. I can teach maths and biology up to Nat 5/GCSE standards. My particular interests lie in proofreading and giving feedback on written work. I also offer advice on how to get into medical school.

As a proofreader, I have a firm grasp on essay structure as well as the necessary vocabulary and grammar to ensure a piece of writing is concise, engaging and delivers the goals the writer has set out to achieve. This comes from years of experience in writing essays, papers, and a psychology dissertation.
When it comes to teaching, I try to deliver teaching in 4 stages- as follows..
1) Assessment of student's current understanding of the topic and areas of weakness/ less confidence
2) Deliverance of the necessary information/learning points
3) Ensuring these learning points have clicked by practice, practice, practice!
4) The "safety net" - making sure the student knows what resources are available to reinforce their learning (we all forget things, it's normal!)
I am a patient and empathetic teacher, and as a student still I also understand the things that make learning easier or more difficult.
