About James
I am a 4th year Computer Science student at Trinity College Dublin. Throughout my school and college years, I have had a passion for maths but have been critical of the way it is taught in many schools. Many teachers go off the idea that students are either good or bad at maths, and this gets decided very early on before the student really gets a chance to put in the work and prove they are capable. I aim to create a relaxed, friendly space where students feel comfortable to talk to me and lessons feel more like a conversation than a lecture. I believe Maths is a skill that anyone can improve with the right guidance and a bit of consistent practice. My approach focuses on building a clear understanding of the underlying concepts rather than relying on rote learning or shortcuts. I like to try create real world examples of abstract concepts and break problems down step by step so no problem feels “unsolvable”.
