I first learnt mandarin at GCSE level, attaining an A*. After that, I started my degree at a beginners level again. Completed first year. My second year was studying abroad in shanghai which helped improve all of my Chinese skills, especially my oral pronunciation and listening ability; which are the two hardest components

My teaching methods will be to focus on the pronunciation of a list of vocabulary during class, which the student will then be told to learn the characters of vocabulary after class in their own time. I will usually test them on that set of vocab at the start of the lesson. Then I would incorporate a few listening exercises which I would have prepared in advance, followed by reading exercises. As the students level of Chinese improves and vocabulary has widened, I would start to focus more on grammar and sentence structures. However, if the student is studying the subject at school, then I am more then happy to go over work with them they don’t understand/need help with.
