About Imran
I'm a third-year Engineering student at the University of Cambridge with a passion for helping students build confidence and achieve their academic goals.
Having once been an underachieving student myself, I understand that success is rarely about natural talent alone. With the right guidance and repeated practice significant improvement is possible. This perspective allows me to empathise with students who may lack confidence or feel stuck, and to help them develop both academically and personally.
Academically, I achieved four A*s at A Level in Mathematics, Further Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. I also placed in the top 14 nationally in the British Physics Olympiad (Astrophysics Challenge) and in the top 50 nationally in the Cambridge Chemistry Challenge (C3L6), demonstrating a strong passion for STEM beyond the classroom.
I'm organised, patient, and easy to get along with. I believe students learn best in an environment where they feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes, and being challenged. My aim is to create lessons that are both engaging and supportive, helping every student reach their full potential.

My lessons are tailored to each student's current ability and learning style, ensuring that they are challenged without becoming overwhelmed. Due to my background, I'm able to push more able students much further by using resources such as Isaac Physics and off-spec questions, but also explain concepts in a more involved way that helps less-able students.
Lessons are an hour long. My previous experience includes tutoring GCSE Physics for a year privately and being a tutor for COMPOS - an organisation spun out of the University of Oxford teaching advanced maths and physics to students. £30 for GCSE, £40 for A Level.
I place emphasis on building solid foundations. I reinforce core concepts by reiterating them and distilling the main ideas conceptually and also for exams, both during lessons and through homework to complete between sessions.
My lessons are highly interactive and student-centred. I encourage constant dialogue, asking students to explain their reasoning and work through problems aloud. This allows me to identify misconceptions as they arise and adapt my teaching in real time.
Alongside developing technical skills, I aim to cultivate higher-order thinking. I regularly stretch students with questions that require them to apply concepts in unfamiliar situations and explain their reasoning.
Above all, I strive to create a supportive, encouraging learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions by being a supportive and bubbly person.
