About Hosea
My name is Hosea Tong-Ho. I am of Vietnamese ethnicity. I went to high school at Macleans College and am currently studying for an undergraduate degree in Software Engineering at the University of Auckland (2nd Year). I've previously taught 2 students (years 11-13 and 6-9) for 3 years, so I have a lot of experience teaching students of all ages. I can teach the Cambridge curriculum and first-year Engineering at the University of Auckland. Despite my results, I have not always been an excelling student. I've struggled with learning in the past, and through determination and hard work, I was able to achieve my goals. I hope to be able to show my students how to study and be able to do the same. My hobbies include: Tennis, Football, Piano, Running, Gym, Fitness, Gaming, Reading. For the past 3 years, I've worked at the warehouse, but I've come to realize that I'm no longer enjoying working here and that my passion is to share my knowledge with others to help them succeed in learning.

My philosophy in teaching is to have students understand the concepts and apply them rather than memorizing and rote learning, as I've also struggled with this. By understanding the concepts instead of memorizing them, you can use your flexible knowledge and apply them through basic principles to overcome difficult problems. I love teaching and sharing my knowledge with others; I always approach lessons with a kind and welcoming heart. The typical length of lessons is 1 hour but can be longer if needed. I have previously taught 2 students (a year 11 and a year 7). I am also currently in the 2nd year of Engineering studying software engineering at the University of Auckland with a 9.0 GPA. I also excelled in Cambridge A Level in physics and maths, where I got A* in both subjects. -Last year I was first in my class in one of my subjects. I will be able to teach: -First-Year engineering - Physics and Maths from Year 13 down (A Level and below) -All ages

He has personally tutored I and my younger brother. He is an incredibly patient teacher who never fails to give his 100% effort and resilience, in each lesson. If I can't understand a certain method then he will navigate me to a different method that's easier for my learning abilities. He actively keeps me engaged throughout the lesson and by the end, I always feel more confident and proud of what I've learned.
Great tutor, always goes out of his way to ensure his students understand not just the problem but the concepts as well.
