About Brittany
My name is Brittany, and I am committed to helping students in STEM. With a strong academic foundation in biology and experience navigating science coursework, I understand both the intellectual challenges students face and the mindset required to overcome them.
Students can expect clear explanations, structured lessons, and a supportive environment where questions are welcomed and growth is prioritized. I take pride in being patient, ensuring that each student is pushed to think critically while still feeling encouraged and capable.
Having worked through advanced science material myself, I know how overwhelming STEM subjects can feel. That perspective allows me to break down complex topics into logical, manageable steps that build true understanding rather than temporary memorization. My goal is always long-term mastery and independent problem solving.
Students who work with me can feel confident that they are learning from someone who is disciplined, reliable, and genuinely invested in their success. I hold myself to high standards so that every session is productive, focused, and meaningful. My approach to learning is on an active learning basis rather than passive learning. I've learned over the years that the use of critical thinking and spaced repetition has not only helped me perform well in classes, but is what helped my students in the past as well.
In a typical lesson, I start by addressing the student's weakness by giving randomized practice questions. Afterwards, I am able to structure a learning plan through software like Khan Academy where we watch the video together during lessons. After the video, I go on to have the students explain what they learned either verbally or on a whiteboard. From there, we then go on to do practice problems. After the lesson, I expect the student to review the problems done in class and by the next class, if comfortable, we can move on to the next lesson.
My lessons are designed for elementary school, middle school, and high school students, particularly those studying STEM subjects such as biology. I work especially well with students who may feel intimidated by STEM material but are willing to grow. Whether they need foundational support or advanced problem-solving practice, I tailor each session to meet their academic level and learning style.
