About Meg
I hold a Bachelor's of Fine Arts in Textile Design from the University of Georgia; I have held several corporate design positions over the last ten years. Currently I work as a Senior Custom Designer in the flooring industry. I also run my own independent design business creating custom illustrated coloring books and abstract floral paintings. I love creating art and while I teach through a critique method I believe in positive reinforcement and encouragement -- art can be intensely personal and developing your own style is critical in a world full of AI in order to stand out!

I teach all levels of art and design -- from beginner to advanced, no matter your age or goals. Whether you want to refine your drawing and painting skills, or learn digital design I can help you achieve your personal goals with a positive attitude and real-world experience. I hold a BFA so I can help you prepare a portfolio for application to art school; I have worked several corporate design jobs so I can also help you prepare a professional portfolio or resume. I teach through a project critique method -- students are given creative prompts and/or realistic design briefs (depending on level/goal) and given time to complete their work. We review and constructively critique together, taking into context the details of the assignment, their own creative process, any applicable art history influences, and how effective/successful the overall product would be in the real world. Assignments are intended to challenge the students artistically and mentally and help to develop their unique style and creativity. We will explore a range of styles, and materials, and discuss ways to positively improve their workflow, presentation, and confidence.
