About Ruqaiya
Hi there! My name is Kaya and I am an International Undergraduate student at the University of Toronto, majoring in Ethics, Society and Law and minoring in History and Communications. As a student who's degree is integrated into both the Humanities and Social Sciences, having an excellent understanding of the English language is critical to excelling in my school work .
Growing up I have always had an unparalleled interest towards the English language. English Language and Literature are two subjects which I've thoroughly enjoyed learning throughout my life, which is the reason I believe I was able to score a Level 9 for these subjects at my IGCSE examinations.
My goal is to use my dexterity of the English Language to help other students just like me overcome the trials of learning a new language by using lesson plans that are both relevant and engaging. I hope to build a close connection with all my students to truly help them reach their potential.

These lessons are best suited for students in elementary or middle school who struggle with English being their second language.
The type of lesson structure we follow will be entirely dependent on the student's needs.
This tutor will create a personalised lesson plan for each student depending on the curriculum they follow and what lessons are being taught in school.
As a tutor, it is my job to adjust my teaching style to suit your preferences. If your goal is to enhance your English Reading skills, we will start by reading a few beginner to intermediate level books and having focused discussions about the themes of the book and what we understand about the plot.
If the goal of the student is to improve their English Writing skills, lessons will consist of writing short essays on a variety of topics and then going over the content with the tutor, finding any grammatical or punctuation errors and finding ways to present the ideas conveyed in a more effective manner.
If the goal of the student is to improve their English speaking skills, lessons will primarily be based on hosting conversations on a variety of topics and expanding the student's vocabulary.
