I’ve been studying with Maria for about 18 months and have loved every minute. I came to our first lesson with a pretty good Spanish vocabulary and a few years of academic and online courses - but what I needed (and got) from Maria was conversational practice. We do more formal grammar lessons but what helps the most is just talking: about current events, history, literature, life. I am much more confident and capable in my fluency than I was just 2 years ago.

I've been studying with Maria for years. She's encouraging and patient, and always makes the lessons fun. Even so, she doesn't allow me to get away with poor grammar... expect to put a little effort in on your end as well. I'm not as fluent as some of her other students, as I'm over 65 and don't practice as much as I should. But I get by with intermediate conversational Spanish in Madrid and San Juan, and I now read fluently!
